Barb King, one of the Shawano Area Writers, is currently putting together a mystery novel titled “The Children in the Garden.” When the Writers met May 20 at the Farm Inn in Shawano, she read the prologue from her book, a heartbreaking scene about what might happen if you talk to strangers.
Every time the Shawano Area Writers get together, they share incredible readings like this one. With the pandemic restrictions lifting, they’re finally able to meet at their old stomping grounds at the Shawano Public Library, 128 S. Sawyer St., Shawano. The meetings take place on the third Thursday of every month at 10 a.m. in one of the downstairs meeting rooms. After getting basic business out of the way, a number of writers will share excerpts from their novels, poems, short stories, blog posts and more. There’s always room at the table for more, so please feel free to join the party.
