Join Shawano Area Writers

Since 1966, Shawano Area Writers has brought local writers together to encourage creativity, share work, and support the written word in our community. Over the years, SAW has published anthologies, celebrated local voices, and helped sustain student writing through the George Putz Memorial Student Writing Contest.

We keep membership at just $5 because we believe local writers deserve an affordable, welcoming place to gather, grow, and be heard.

With your membership, you can:

  • Share your work 2–3 times each quarter
  • Learn from fellow writers in a supportive local community
  • Submit to the SAW anthology
  • Help support local students through the George Putz Memorial Student Writing Contest
  • Connect with others who value writing, creativity, and encouragement

SAW meets on the third Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m at Domino’s – Shawano. The first month of each quarter is a business meeting, and the next two meetings focus on writing, sharing, and community.

Whether you are a longtime writer, a new writer, or someone returning to the page, there is a place for you here.

We cannot wait to hear your work!
